About The CA Kryptonite

About the California Kryptonite

History

Founded in 2009, the Kryptonite has quickly grown a reputation of fielding very competitive teams with very talented players.

In 2011 both 14U teams finished in the top of most tournaments they attended. Our teams traveled to So-Cal and the local circuit including Stockton and Sacramento plus road trips to Colorado and Utah. In the Fall of 2011, we added a third team, the 14U-98.

We have a competitive schedule set for all three teams in 2012 that will take us to Colorado, Nevada and of course our "2nd home" in Southern California.

Future

We plan to grow under control to maintain our quality at the highest level. The Kryptonite is a true non-profit so we don’t try to rely on oversized rosters or making up extra teams just to pay our bills or make an extra buck. This allows our program to be a good value and return on a family's investment.

Our philosophy is to build strong cores of our teams that will stay together for multiple years. The more a player learns and gels, the better her experience will be and her enthusiasm for fastpitch will grow with her skills.

Tournaments

Which tournaments we enter depends on the development path of the team.

Younger teams (12U-14U) will play tournaments based on their experience level to compete and grow. Our philosophy is for a team to be challenged to improve while also being competitive at that level. Typically, a brand new fall team may stay mostly local to evaluate the talent and try these new players in multiple positions and situations before the next tryout.

Older teams (16U-18 Gold) play mostly showcase tournaments except for the national qualifiers and national tournaments. The objective is to get the players seen by as many college scouts as possible as they navigate the college recruiting process.

Player Selection Criteria

We are looking for players and families that are committed to the softball experience. Being a college-prep softball program requires a significant level of time and travel not only for the players but the family as well. It is in that light that we include the family as part of the experience.

It’s not just the fact that the families spend a lot of time together travelling to tournaments all over the country. College scouts are also looking for skilled players that also have supportive families. The Kryptonite is committed to sending exceptional representatives into the college ranks.

Training

We have qualified coaches to train the girls on the field and during the tournaments. We also utilize the area’s top professional trainers both indoors and outdoors to accelerate the skill building. This model is similar to the select-level soccer training process that our multiple-sports-athletes may be familiar with.

Speaking of multiple sports…we appreciate athletes that compete in multiple sports. Especially at the younger ages, we have been known to be very accommodating to the training schedules of these athletes. As long as the athlete can keep up with the hard work it takes to compete at an elite level of fastpitch, we try our best to work with it. An important key to this is open communication with parents and staff.
